Burundi - Heza FFS

This is the second coffee of the season from our long-term partners and friends at Long Miles Coffee Project from Burundi. The coffee gets its name after their first washing station, Heza, meaning beautiful, and from their project 'Farmer Field School' – FFS. 

 

This natural processed Bourbon has notes of soft almond butter, sweet and tart lemon curd, and fresh and juicy stone fruits.

Even before starting Populus Coffee, we knew we wanted to work together with the Long Miles Coffee Project; this is already the seventh year in a row. During these years, we have visited each other on both sides, built an extraordinary relationship, and are proud to call the people at Long Miles our friends.

 

All our coffees from Burundi come from this beautiful farmer-focused initiative whit the aim to bring smallholder farmers and roasters closer together to better the quality of coffee and, more importantly, the life of the Burundian coffee farmers. This coffee comes from their project FFS - Farmer Field School.

 

FFS was born in 2015 to offer support and knowledge and encourage the passion for growing coffee after decades of being forced to do it during colonialization, followed by decades of political instability and conflicts spinning
