Colombia - La Flora

This is our first, but most likely not the last, coffee from the small, family-run

farmer community of 6 neighboring coffee producers, called La Flora. This coffee has a very nice silky viscosity and cranberry-like tartaric acidity. From the cup, you can find flavors of mandarine, candied pecans, and dried cranberries.

Filter coffee:

Silky cup with mandarine, bergamot, dried cranberries, and candied pecans

Rich, syrupy mouthfeel with intense underlying cacao and highlights of cranberry and black tea. Notes of pecan, dark chocolate, brown sugar, molasses with long grapefruit finish.

With milk:

Brownie-like notes with lemon curd and dried cherries.

The Producer:

La Flora is a family-based producer group, with around 6-7 members. It is loosely organized by Eduar Moriones and a big portion of the coffee contributed comes from his farm.

Eduar Moriones is one of several producers in the group La Flora in El Pital, Huila. The group found Osito, our new sourcing partner in Colombia, through Eduar's brother-in-law, who is the director of their Colombian branch.

The farmers deliver coffee individually to the receiving station in Garzon where they et blended at their request. All lots from La Flora are washed and dried at a centralized location. Washing and drying operations are managed by a single person, which allows for a high level of consistency.<
